This week we continued learning about our animals and using our writing to teach others. Just as non-fiction writers do, we first had to ask our selves questions about our topic. We will collect many facts from books, Pebble- Go and Epic. from here each group will decide how and what they want to teach their readers through their collaborative non-fiction books. We will continue writing all week through fact checking and revision. Students will build word banks and use our very best handwriting so that our books are easy to read when published! | |
Fact Finding/ Research
Just as non-fiction authors do, fact finders checked the things, they think they know and searched for answers to the questions, they want to know! How do we do this? By research! Room 112 has began answering questions they have about their animals by researching facts in books and programs on their iPads. They will collect various facts learning as much as they can about their animals.
Working together as experts throughout the whole day!
Room 112 is becoming more advanced grown up learners everyday! Friends are able to be self-directed in stations and support one other as experts on concepts they have mastered to support their classmates. It's amazing to see the camaraderie of students working together and being self sufficient as they get ready for first grade! Not only do we strengthen our own knowledge when we teach others but the students are learning from one another!
Word Work Continues
This week we focused on special vowel combinations. Find these combinations in books with your kiddos and have them read you the sounds!
