- No School Monday, May 30th.
- 2 hr early dismissal June 1st.
6/16/19 – PBL Showcase Night (5:30pm). This is an event where you bring your kindergartner and they are your tour guide! They will present to you their collaborative African Animal Fact book and our Collaborative Life size African Savanna! Such a fun way to showcase our project.
Kindergarten MAP Testing
The final round of kindergarten MAP testing will be happening Wednesday June 1st and Wednesday June 7th. Please let me know if you will be out of town so we can schedule a make-up time. Students will take a Math test and a Reading test. Because the test is adaptive (increases difficulty when the student answers correctly) it often can be challenging for students. I tell the kids there will be questions they may not know, and that that is ok! I give them the message ~ try your hardest, but don't worry about anything you don't know, you just have not learned it YET! :)
Please make sure you are on time to school these dates as we will be starting promptly at 9:30.
Please remember to get a good's night rest and eat a big breakfast.
~Thank you!

Once groups have generated lots of fact page drafts and feel like experts, they will sort these facts into chapters. When we have all of the pages drafted, we will edit them for readability, marking them with purple pens, before we use them to write our final drafts to publish our books. This editing process will be an important step in creating our books. If we want other people to learn from our books, they have to be able to read our writing.
This "research process" is something that we will keep going back to. Each group will be working at their own pace and will be at different points during the process from week to week. Such a fun and chaotic time that is full of great learning!

Late next week we will be making LIFE SIZE animals! Last week we looked at pictures and made scientific diagrams of our animals. This process will support us in learning about proportion, detail and make sure we know all the parts of our animals.
