- 6/16/19 PBL Showcase Night (5:30pm). This is an event where you bring your kindergartner and they are your tour guide! They will present to you their collaborative African Animal Fact book and our Collaborative Life size African Savanna! Such a fun way to showcase our project. Please feel free to roam the school after you have explored the savanna to learn from other grades.

Life Size Animals
We measured, we drew, and we painted our life size animals! This is a fun way to learn about the different tools for measurement and to see just how big a ft is, the meerkat or 16 ft is, the elephant! Once our animal was measured it was time to practice our art skills and try and draw our animal to scale. We started with the tallest part of our animal and worked our way down. Next, we thought about how we were going to make our animal look realistic. To help with that, we needed more than one coat of paint. Our first coat was the :base coat." This color was typically the lightest color on the animal. We painted our entire animal that one color to start. Next, we added all the details (face, spots, other colors, fur, ect). What a fun way to learn more about our animals! We can't wait to show you our African Savanna at the PBL showcase this Thursday June 16th at 5:30 pm.
Finalizing Our Books
This week students made chapter covers, table of contents and chose scientific diagrams to be in their books. We also voice reordered the pages so the books can be read to the viewer through seesaw and the blog. It was so fun to finalize a huge piece of the project. Together the kiddos's researched, fact found, edited and revised, illustrated and completed a collaborative books with their group. Together they became authors teaching others about their animals they are now experts on! We can't wait for our learning to go live this upcoming week and teach all of you!
